Our Mission

You are here:Home » Our Mission

No one takes better care of you than you do.  We want to help.

Unlike large expensive security companies, we cater directly to individuals, small businesses, government clients, public and private schools, ministries or anyone wanting to have a better understanding and the desire to safeguard themselves, their loved ones, or their business while traveling or living abroad.  We think we have something of real value to offer you.

The world is incredible, and as Mark Twain wrote “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime.”  We couldn’t agree more.

The eBook, the course, this website, and the social media pages are our mechanisms to encourage you to get out there and go!  So far, it’s been fun and we’ll keep doing it as long as it remains that way.  One of the things that’ll keep it on-track is a continuing relationship with you.

The articles and information we post are things we think are useful to you and/or relevant to the eBook and the course.  There are others out there with more or different information.  Diversity and difference of opinion are good things. We get tons of new content each day, but much of it is deleted.   In particular we ignore/delete those things that appear to be fear-mongering or sensational in some way.  The world is not as dangerous as some would want you to believe.  They just use tragic events as their pulpit.  That’s not our style.

Occasionally, we’ll endorse an actual person, place or product.  We do this only for content we believe in.  We won’t waste your valuable time with disingenuous marketing babble.  Also… we will never retain or use your email address, spam you and sell your information to other people, ever.

How content and links are chosen for the Safe Travel Tips website

The Safe Travel Tips website includes content and links to both internal and external websites. We select content and links that are editorially relevant to the content we provide.  We assess those sources as linking from legitimate and credible site operators and as being suitable for our likely audience.  Any material on our website is suitable for a general audience including children.  So, wake the kids and call the neighbors and tell them about us.  (We need the traffic… seriously.)

We link to sites purely on editorial merit. Those websites will most often be free to access, but users may sometimes be asked to register or subscribe before viewing content.  We have no control over the policy or content of other sites.  Nor do we receive any kick-back from you establishing a subscription with another site.

Some of the core reasons we select and provide links are:

  • For further relevant information or other key source material
  • For background information
  • For useful practical information
  • For entertainment or enjoyment
  • For further informed comment

We do, occasionally, accept submissions or requests to post content. The homepage team selects links and evaluates those websites or content on the basis of editorial relevance.

All external links are selected and reviewed when the page is published. However, we are not responsible for the evolution of content on external websites. This is because:

  • We do not produce them or maintain/update them
  • We cannot change them or their behavior
  • They can and most likely will be changed without our knowledge or agreement

Some of our external links may be to websites which also offer commercial services, such as online purchases.  Advertisements displayed on the pages are provided and managed by Google AdSense.  We’re just as surprised to see them as you.

In all cases, the inclusion of a link to any external website should not be understood to be an automatic endorsement of that website, the site’s owners, their products/services, their political views, or anything else about them.  If we intend to endorse a site or a product, we will make it clear in the associated text and give you a reason why.

Comments by others (e.g.  blog post comments)

The views expressed are those of the public and unless specifically stated, are not those of the Safe Travel Tips team. We try to monitor the content as often as reasonably possible.  If you consider any content to be offensive in some way, please alert us on where the material appears.  We’ll fix it (assuming we agree with your concern).  We’re big supporters of free speech, but will not tolerate or perpetuate stupidity, spam, emotional personal attacks, fear-mongering, etc.

The information we provide, and the advice we share here at Safe Travel Tips is just that; shared information.  As we teach in the book; you are responsible for you, and this information is to be followed, used and acted upon using your own best judgment and on your own decision.  We are not liable for any unwanted, unpleasant, or unexpected outcomes you may encounter from your use or actions.  We merely tell you like it is.  The rest is up to you.

Our site.  Our rules.  Our perspective.  Plain and simple.

We believe the future of the internet is one in which people build up networks of trusted sources, experts, and other people with whom they feel a connection. We value these connections very much and appreciate your trust, inputs and dialogue. Thank you for your time, and if there are ever any concerns whatsoever, or if you have a new idea, feel free to contact us.
